Buldak Ramen Scoville
The Scoville scale uses the concentration of capsaicin the ingredient that gives peppers their heat, to determine how spicy a food is. The precise Scoville ratings for Buldak Ramen may differ based on the product in question and its formulation, however the following is a basic idea:
Scoville Ratings for Buldak Ramen:
- Approximately 1,500–2,000 Scoville Heat Units were used in the original Buldak Ramen (SHU). Although this level is quite spicy most spice lovers can handle it.
- Buldak Ramen (Hot Chicken Flavor): 1,500–2,000 SHU, same as the original.
- Two times as spicy Buldak Ramen: roughly 4,000–5,000 SHU. This variant has a much higher heat level and is twice as spicy as the original.
- Three times as spicy Buldak Ramen : roughly 8000 to 10000 SHU. This is incredibly hot and meant just for people who can tolerate very high heat levels because it is three times as spicy as the original.
- The Black Edition Buldak Ramen is typically between 2,500 and 3,500 SHU which is slightly hotter than the original but not as intense as the 2x or 3x spicy variations.
- General Note: There is some variation and approximation in these Scoville ratings. A person’s sensitivity to heat and the way the ramen is prepared can both affect how spicy it is.
